As an educational consultant and special education advocate, my mission is to help families of children with disabilities obtain the most comprehensive and progressive education possible, in order to remove all barriers to growth, learning, and emotional well-being, in school, at home, and in the community.
- How I can help
I will ensure that your child is evaluated in all areas of suspected disability; interpret all data and evaluations; and, apply them in a meaningful way to document and support the need for the most comprehensive Individualized Education Program-IEP that your child is entitled to under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act-IDEA 2004.
- My Goal is to Empower You!
I explain every step of the special education process, from obtaining initial evaluations to developing an IEP, so that you are a fully informed partner in your child's education.
- What IDEA 2004 Means for You and Your Child
Your child with a disability is entitled to specially designed instruction, at no cost to the parents, to meet his or her unique needs. It may also include related services, defined as developmental, corrective and other supportive services as are required to assist a child with a disability to benefit from special education.
- All children with disabilities are entitled to a Free Appropriate Public Education, or FAPE, in the Least Restrictive Environment, or LRE. This means they must participate and make progress in the general education curriculum alongside non-disabled peers.
- ESE is NOT a special school or separate class. Your district is required to meet your child's needs that arise from his disability, so that he can make adequate progress in regular education.
